Almonds contain a high amount of antioxidants – they protect cells from oxidative damage, which is the cause of many diseases and accelerates the body’s ageing process. A number of studies suggest that regular consumption of nuts can provide a number of health benefits as, among other things, they reduce the risk of premature death from cardiovascular disease. Nuts help maintain health by lowering levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL cholesterol), which is commonly referred to as 'bad cholesterol’, thus reducing the risk of blood clots. They also contain unsaturated fatty acids.
